Mary McDonnell

 

Mary Eileen McDonnell (born April 28 1952) is an American stage, film, and television actress. McDonnell was nominated in the Academy Award for her roles in Dances with Wolves as Stands With A Finger and Passion Fish as May-Alice Culhane. McDonnell is most famous for her roles as First Lady Marilyn Whitmore in Independence Day and President Laura Roslin on Battlestar Galactica. In the series' seasons 5-7 she appeared as Captain Sharon Raydor and in Major Crimes spin-offs on TNT.
